In addition to planning many events throughout the year and partnering with other individuals and organizations to spread awareness and provide support, Karsyn's Krusaders is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Whether it is coordinating a "card drive", planning special recognition events at tracks for cancer survivors or simply sharing stories and offering support to others who battle this disease, Karsyn's Krusaders is here to show that small actions, thoughts deeds and dollars can make a large impact, especially when we all work together!
• Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics KK donated $12,000 in connection with "Destination Inspire" and in support of a hematology/oncology/bone marrow transplant research project specifically relating to unsuccessful bone marrow transplants in pediatric patients.
• Ronald McDonald Charities Karsyn’s Krusaders was responsible for a nearly $9,000 deck renovation project, complete with deck furniture, which included a visit at the unveiling from Corn Belt Clash Series driver Chad Simpson, his car owner, Bud Brinkman, and their #25 Late Model.
• Caring Bridge Caring Bridge provides an online space where you can connect, share news and receive support. KK’s $5,000 donation was instrumental in the launching of the online ‘Support System’, which now assists families with needs and coordinates volunteer efforts to aid families dealing with serious illness.
• Make-A-Wish Foundation KK financially adopted and participated in granting three wishes for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
• SuperSibs! KK sponsored a $1,000 scholarship, as chosen by said organization, which is focused on the needs and support of siblings of cancer patients.
• Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation KK made a $5,000 contribution to assist with a research grant focused on the treatment of patients with high-risk cancers. ALSF is an organization that was founded by cancer parents and is focused on raising funds for cancer research.
• Cancer Services of New Mexico Karsyn’s Krusaders donated $8,000 in support of a free, three-day educational retreat providing New Mexico’s adult cancer patients/survivors and their families (more than 250 people) with the tools and information they need to better manage the survival process.
• Camp Heart Connection KK provided $2,000 in support of a free six-day cancer camp for 200 patients, as well as a follow-up six-day camp experience for nearly 200 siblings. The camp is complete with medical staff, endless activities, surprise visitors, great food and emotional support.
• Give Kids the World KK provided $3,000 to help restock supplies needed. GKTW is a 70-acre resort where families stay at no charge, complete with over 140 villa accommodations, entertainment attractions, whimsical venues and fun specifi cally designed for children suffering from medical illness.
• St. Jude Karysn’s Krusaders and its supporters rallied and contributed nearly $5,000 during a local telethon held in support of St. Jude.
In addition to the donations listed above, donations have been provided in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, Liam’s Lighthouse, Dance Marathon, American Cancer Society and many, many, others.
Our Board of Directors continually seeks organizations and explores projects that fit our mission and vision with the goal of making the most impact in the lives of others who are working to ‘Kick Cancer’s Butt’.
